As a group leader for Flooglebinder, I co-led a group of Animal Management college students aged 17 to 27 on a wildlife expedition in Costa Rica. Together, we explored the rich biodiversity of Monteverde, Manuel Antonio National Park, and the Osa Peninsula, engaging in hands-on conservation activities such as turtle night patrols, avian and amphibian monitoring, and regenerative farming.
Together with Conservation Diver Master Instructor Spencer Arnold, I co-led interactive workshops on eDNA sampling and camera trap deployment, giving students hands-on experience with innovative conservation tools. In addition to these sessions, students participated in engaging discussions on rewilding and reforestation strategies, deepening their understanding of ecosystem restoration. Throughout the expedition, we lived fully immersed in the jungle, sharing our surroundings with howler monkeys, snakes, bats, and a wide array of other curious wildlife.
Organized by Flooglebinder and hosted by Osa Conservation, the trip offered students a unique and powerful combination of practical field skills, ecological insight, and real-world conservation experience.
Pura vida!
