About me

I am a PhD student in the Baum Lab at the University of Victoria, where I study coral symbioses under global change. My research focuses on coral recovery and resilience in the decade following the 2015–2016 El Niño event, combining coral imagery analysis and molecular laboratory techniques to investigate host–Symbiodiniaceae interactions under heat stress across gradients of human impact on Kiritimati (Christmas Island), Kiribati.
I am particularly interested in beneficial microbes and Symbiodiniaceae and how they contribute to enhancing coral resilience in the face of changing environmental conditions.

Research interests:
- Coral microbiology
- Beneficial Microorganisms for Corals (BMCs)
- Symbioses in general
- Artificial reefs for restoration
- Diadema antillarum

Passion
for diving

I’ve been passionate about diving since my first dive in Australia at 16. Since then, I’ve completed over 2,700 dives across 19 countries including 650 scientific dives. Diving allows me to explore marine ecosystems up close, and I love to observe interactions of all the fascinating marine creatures.
